My work experience has included counseling people of multiple backgrounds, ages and abilities and have extensive counseling experience with children ages 4 years old to adulthood to the elderly and end of life issues. I have worked individually, in groups, with families and couples, in hospitals, and within public/private schools. My passion is for young children, families, older adults and those touched by disability. However, I strive to help people of all walks of life to learn and grow through interactive talk and play in a welcoming, comfortable home-like environment.
I received my BA in Psychology from Louisiana Tech University then went on to receive my Master’s in Counselor Education from Southeastern Louisiana University. I am a Board Approved Supervisor in addition to being a Licensed Professional Counselor for over 10 years.
My primary areas of focus:
- Children and adolescents
- Living with Disabilities
- Parenting
- Trauma or Abuse related issues
- Relationship and Family issues
- Self Harm/Injury
- Elderly/Aging
- Holistic (physical, social, mental, emotional and spiritual concepts)
Personally, my life is centered around my family. From spending time with my husband of 13 years, to playing with our 2 children and our lively family dog, my days are full of activity. We enjoy our house constantly being a hub of friends, neighbors and family.
Recently, our family has become very active with Joni and Friends, an international nonprofit disability ministry, that just opened a local office in BR. This ministry has made a tremendous difference in our family life. I am very blessed to help serve those with disabilities in this facet. Also, as a 2019 graduate of Partners in Policymaking, I have been part of a class provided by the LA Developmental Disabilities Council for appointed self-advocates and parent advocates to become effective change agents in our community to increase awareness, building capacity and systems change for those touched by disabilities.
